The laboratory of Dr. Andrew D. Smith has an open position for a postdoctoral research associate to work in the area of Computational Genomics. Successful candidates will design new algorithms and statistical methods for analyzing large-scale data sets, with the aim of answering specific biological questions. The data analysis will involve massive datasets produced specifically for our projects and hold much promise for discovery. This position will require creativity in designing novel methods to meet the unique analytical challenges presented by emerging experimental technologies.

•    PhD in Computer Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Applied Math or Physics
•    Deep interest in solving biological problems
•    Solid programming skills and experience with C or C++
•    Ability to work comfortably in a Unix/Linux environment

This position will be particularly suitable to candidates interested in
•    Working with newly produced genomic and epigenomic data
•    Interacting directly with experimental scientists producing data using cutting-edge technologies

About Computational Biology and Bioinformatics at USC
The USC program in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics is one of the earliest-formed such programs in the world. We have ten full-time Computational Biology professors with expertise covering a broad range of research topics. The program currently has approximately sixty PhD students and postdocs. We provide excellent training opportunities, top-notch infrastructure and a new and spacious work environment. USC is located in Los Angeles, California.
