Faculty Positions in Cancer Biology

As part of Michigan State University’s Global Impact Initiative, MSU, in partnership with the College of Human Medicine, is making a significant investment in Cancer Biology. We are inviting applications for four tenure-track faculty positions at the Associate/Full Professor level from individuals with active, extramurally funded cancer research programs. Exceptional candidates with potential for significant research program development will also be considered at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidates will strengthen and complement a growing cohort of active, highly interactive cancer researchers with programs in breast, ovarian, endometrial, lung, liver, and skin cancer, as well as pediatric oncology and cancer therapeutics. Based on programmatic fit and interest of the candidate, single or joint appointments to basic science or clinical departments on the East Lansing or Grand Rapids campuses will be made. Joint appointments with our clinical partners are possible for candidates with medical degrees and clinical duties.

Areas of interest include cancer metastasis, including dormancy; cancer genetics and epigenetics; the impact of microenvironment and immunomodulation on tumor progression; experimental therapeutics; therapeutic resistance; and cancer stem cells. We are especially interested in individuals who utilize patient samples, patient-derived xenografts, mammalian genetic models, and/or large-scale approaches, such as genomics/proteomics/metabolomics, to address these issues.

Applicants must have a Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. with a strong record of research accomplishments and peer-reviewed publications. Successful candidates will be expected to maintain a vigorous, nationally recognized basic, translational or clinical research program, to actively participate in the new Cancer Research Program initiative currently under development (cancer.msu.edu), and to contribute to professional, graduate, and/or undergraduate education.

To apply, applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, summary of research accomplishments and future research objectives, brief description of teaching philosophy and goals, and a list of three references, who will not be contacted without applicant’s consent, as a single PDF document to cancerbiologysearch@msu.edu. Candidates must also submit an application for this position through the MSU Human Resources site at http://jobs.msu.edu/ (posting #2426). The review of applications will begin Jan 1, 2016 and continue until suitable candidates are identified. Inquiries about the position should be sent to either Eran Andrechek, Ph.D. or Jose Teixeira, Ph.D. at cancerbiologysearch@msu.edu.
