The Anand laboratory (www.ohsu.edu/cdcb/anand) broadly interested in identifying and characterizing non-coding RNAs, especially microRNAs, in the host cells that promote tumor progression. Our work involves molecular biology techniques (Expression profiling, functional genomics, qPCR, cloning), cell biology (Confocal imaging, 3D cell culture, flow cytometry, bioluminescence assays) and uses both in vitro and in vivo model systems and samples from human tumors. Our goal is to both understand the functional role of non-coding RNAs and seek ways to exploit these molecules for diagnostic and/or therapeutic purposes in human cancer. We have two openings for candidates with experience in mouse tumor models.

1 Senior Research Assistant (IRC48167)

This is primarily a research position, but some management responsibilities are also involved. ~70% of the time will be devoted to a research project on the role of non-coding RNAs in the tumor microenvironment. Experience in mouse tumor models and/or molecular biology and cell culture is essential; experience in microscopy and real-time quantitative PCR is highly desirable. 25% of the position involves ordering supplies, mouse colony management and training other lab personnel. Strong organization and interpersonal skills are needed. It is anticipated that the successful application will have a B.S. or a M.S. and significant laboratory experience and major coursework in relevant fields.

2. Candidates should have at least one published or in press first author paper in a good journal. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience developing therapeutics in mouse models of cancer and/or cardiovascular disease and a background in either non-coding RNA research or DNA damage responses.

How to apply:

Apply online by uploading your CV, a cover letter and the names and contact information for three references at http://www.ohsujobs.com/ with the relevant IRC number.

To apply online upload a CV, cover letter and the names and contacts of 3 references.

Oregon Health & Science University values a diverse and culturally competent workforce.
