Join us at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, one of the world's leading academic medical centers, as our Senior Research Scientist for Bioinformatics and Computational Proteomics.
If you have significant experience with proteomics data analysis and software development and find the idea of working in our Proteomics Core and Mirzaei laboratory to be fun and exciting, this may be the job for you. At our well-quipped mass-spectrometry facility, you will develop and maintain cutting-edge platforms for proteomics data analysis, oversee analysis of data generated in the core and work closely with the lab and our collaborators. You must be able to carry out research into complex computational proteomics problems and contribute to funding applications. As well as locally hosted computing facilities, the core has access to Top 500 supercomputing clusters at The University of Texas at Austin. We are seeking to establish a department of Bioinformatics, promoting computations research and collaboration on campus.
You must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Bioinformatics or related field and a strong publication record. Candidates with a biological background must have significant computational experience.
• Familiar with common proteomics software (Mascot, MaxQuant, Proteome Discoverer)
• Thorough understanding of identification and quantitation methods in proteomics
• Significant programming experience (Perl & Java preferred)
• Web application & database development (MySQL essential)
• Linux and Windows system administration
• Proteomics software - ISB Trans-Proteomic Pipeline, Skyline
• Computing – Amazon Web Services cloud, HPC software development
• Statistics – experimental design, analysis of large quantitative datasets, proficient in R
