The Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine at New Mexico State University is a new, freestanding osteopathic medical school, located in Las Cruces, NM on the campus of New Mexico State University.  BCOM has established affiliation with NMSU, but is a privately funded, separately licensed and independently operated entity.  It is not part of New Mexico State University.

The College’s mission is to improve healthcare education and healthcare in southern New Mexico, and throughout the southwest US by increasing the number of physicians trained in this region.  The College has implemented a modified systems-based spiral curriculum that will integrate disciplines, and incorporates androgogical teaching methodologies (flipped classroom, and interactive and active learning, etc.).  The College aspires to promote student learning in a humanistic environment, such that students are enthusiastic about providing patient-centered, evidence-based care of the highest quality.
