ROLE SUMMARY

As the US Medical Director, mRNA Vaccines, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the US Medical Affairs Lead, mRNA Vaccines, development and execution of strategic medical and scientific activities. The incumbent should be experienced with designing, evaluating, interpreting, summarizing, and presenting real-world evidence and will be skillful with data visualization and presentation tools to convert complex analysis into meaningful insights. In addition to the analytic component of the position, the incumbent will develop and deliver presentations, webinars, and other communication outlets, as needed. The mRNA Vaccines franchises are expanding rapidly. Growth of mRNA technology is likely to continue to be rapid for the next few years becoming a critical vaccine platform for the Vaccines BU. This position will be on the cutting edge for defining applications of this new technology at Pfizer moving forward.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the Medical Lead for the Medical and Lifecycle Plans and deliverables for mRNA vaccines.
  • Serves as a US advocate for the vaccine's medical organization and champions MDSCA resources, needs, and priorities for the appropriate use of mRNA vaccines.
  • Support successful launch and recommendations for mRNA vaccines.
  • Support MDSCA US strategy to evaluate potential recommendations for mRNA vaccines.
  • Support the US Medical Lead in interacting with external stakeholders including ACIP.
  • Partner with US Commercial leads to ensure MDSCA-CD alignment on key strategies, deliverables, and communication for mRNA Vaccines in the US
  • Serve as the MDSCA US project champion, effectively negotiating with & influencing key internal & external stakeholders.
  • Support Asset and MSC teams with aggregated US data aligned with the global strategy (Pfizer-sponsored and collaborative research)
  • Contribute to the integration of scientific information (epidemiology, disease burden, public health value, etc.) in the COVID-19 vaccine asset.
  • Support the execution of epidemiology studies - both field studies involving primary data collection and secondary analyses of real-world data or registries.
  • Develop innovative approaches for communication modalities to address US epidemiological challenges related to diseases as they apply to mRNA vaccines and therapeutics.
  • Identify, establish, and maintain relationships with external partners and institutions that can collaborate with high priority US studies.
  • Work with internal and external experts in statistics to analyze and interpret data from key vaccines and therapeutic epidemiology studies.
  • Critique internally and externally written manuscripts/published literature.


BASIC QUALIFICATION

  • PhD in infectious disease epidemiology or closely related field; or MD with additional research training in infectious disease, public health, epidemiology, or close-related field (board certified in infectious diseases preferred).
  • Experience in vaccines, infectious diseases, epidemiology, and public health
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, and proven track record of delivering high quality within timelines.
  • Clinical, formulary, and/or other management experience
  • Managed Care, pharmaceutical industry, and/or Quality Improvement
  • Data Analytics and/or HEOR activities, with demonstrated strong methodological skills (study design, data analysis, and interpretation) in health services research.
  • Demonstrate a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including the ability to influence and collaborate with peers and create business impact.
  • Demonstrated track record of high performance and excellence.
  • Ability to analyze, define, and convey complex concepts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Well-organized with the ability to be flexible, prioritize multiple demands, and effectively lead in a matrix organization.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience analyzing healthcare data.
  • Understanding of the complex business environment within the US healthcare system as well as emerging healthcare trend


NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
  • Up to 10 - 20% travel.
