Description
The Division of HEMATOLOGY & ONCOLOGY is recruiting for a full-time Physician Scientist or Scientist at the junior/mid-level with research interests preferably aligned with one of our three research programs at Stony Brook Cancer Center (https://cancer.stonybrookmedicine.edu/CancerResearch/Programs).

The selected candidate will be expected to collaboratively work toward building research excellence within the program. This includes fostering program growth and enhancing the external peer-reviewed funding in the program. Applicants themselves must be an accomplished scientist in cancer research and have a demonstrated track record in extramurally funded research as well as a record of mentorship. The successful candidate should hold a PhD, MD, MD/PhD or equivalent. This position will report directly to the Chief of Hematology & Oncology and the Chair of Medicine.


Qualifications
PHYSICIAN SCIENTIST:

Required Qualifications: MD, DO, MD/PhD or equivalent. Board Certified in Internal Medicine. Board Certified/Eligible in Hematology and/or Oncology. Experience in clinical care and clinical, translational, or basic research in hematologic and/or oncologic diseases. Will be responsible for research, patient care and teaching.

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated publication and active or pending funding track record in clinical, translational, and/or basic research in hematologic and/or oncologic diseases. The ideal candidate will have exhibited a strong commitment to advancing scientific knowledge in the field of hematologic and/or oncologic diseases with a strong commitment to clinical, educational, and academic excellence.

SCIENTIST:

The ideal candidate will exhibit a strong commitment to advancing scientific knowledge in the field of hematologic and/or oncologic diseases with a strong commitment to academic excellence.

The selected incumbent will be expected to develop an independent research program supported by extramural funding. Tenure eligible position.
