The Laboratory of Michelle L. Block, Ph.D. at the Indiana University School of Medicine & the Stark Neurosciences Research Institute in Indianapolis, Indiana is currently accepting applications for a postdoc position.  Work in the laboratory is focused on understanding how circulating signals and the peripheral immune system in response to environmental toxicants reprogram the resident myeloid cells in the brain, microglia, to drive neuropathology in central nervous system diseases (ex. Gulf War Illness, Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease).

The successful applicant will be highly motivated and have a Ph.D. in Immunology, Neuroscience, Neurotoxicology, or a related scientific field.  Strong experience with immunology, unbiased stereology, imaging techniques (confocal and 2-photon), and/or molecular biology is a strength.  The candidate will manage projects, develop novel techniques, present findings at conferences, write manuscripts, and contribute to grant application preparation, where training/mentoring/active collaboration for these responsibilities is designed to advance scientific and career growth.  Salary is based on NIH standards and will be commensurate with experience.
