  • Lead team of multidisciplinary researchers to execute scientific, technical and program development strategies
  • Develop Energy Storage Center capabilities in:

next-generation energy storage for transportation and buildings

                  battery manufacturing science

                  next-generation energy storage for transportation

grid-energy storage capabilities and innovations toward use on demand

  • Develop and maintain a network of government, academic, and industry contacts that lead to the discovery of new opportunities in energy storage
  • Identify critical research collaborations with various Berkeley Lab scientific disciplines, fellow national laboratories, UC Berkeley, other academic institutions, and public and private sector entities
  • Work with policymakers in developing pathways for the applications of energy storage in Grid applications in pursuit of a resilient energy infrastructure
  • Represent Berkeley Lab energy storage efforts within Berkeley Lab as well as to UC Berkeley and other UCs, UCOP, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), other relevant federal and state agencies, and internal groups
  • Engage with and lead scientific community activities related to energy storage

What is Required:

  • Advanced degree in chemistry, material sciences, physics, engineering, or related field or equivalent combination of education and professional experience
  • Recognized as an expert and leader in the energy storage field
  • Outstanding track record of funding and initiative development
