Description: The Marshall University School of Pharmacy is seeking applications for two tenure-track positions in the Department of Pharmaceutical Science and Research.  Qualified candidates will have a Ph.D. in a pharmaceutical sciences-related discipline with at least 2 years of postdoctoral training (Assistant Professor level) or 5 years of faculty experience (Associate Professor level). Job responsibilities include teaching pharmacy classes with a flipped classroom approach that incorporates active learning, developing an independent research program in the candidate’s area of expertise, and service to the school. One successful candidate will teach in (A) pharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics courses, while the other will contribute to (B) basic science instruction in the pharmacy curriculum. Research areas may include but are not limited to pharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, physiological sciences, cancer biology, microbiology, immunology, toxicology, or genetics.  Strong consideration will be given to candidates with a record of extra-mural funding or showing exceptional promise to develop a research program.

Qualifications:   A Ph.D., Pharm.D., or doctoral degree in a related field with relevant postdoctoral experience; excellent communication, time management and organizational skills; and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.  Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to pharmacy education and research.  Teaching experience in (A) pharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics or (B) the pathophysiology and pharmacology of cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, hematological, or oncological disorders is preferred.

Special Note: The Marshall University School of Pharmacy was approved by the Marshall University Board of Governors in 2010, welcomed its first class in 2012, and graduated that first class in May, 2016. In June, 2016, the School was granted full ACPE accreditation and had an 86% first-time NAPLEX pass rate in 2017. In summer 2019, the School will move to a new complex with state-of-the-art studio classroom and research laboratories. The updated facilities include new major equipment (e.g., NMR, GCMS, HPLC, flow cytometer, cell imager) for conducting research. The nearby School of Medicine has a next generation sequencing facility, an imaging facility, an animal care facility, and space for animal research. Marshall University is listed as an “R2” research institution by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.
