NEUROSCIENCE FACULTY POSITION
The Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology (http://www.uthsc.edu/anatomy-neurobiology/) at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center seeks an outstanding researcher (open rank, tenure-track position) to complement and extend departmental and campus-wide research in the areas of neurodegenerative diseases (traumatic brain injury, stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease), or neural circuits of behavior/social interactions/Autism Spectrum Disorders. Research incorporating contemporary virally-based circuit tracing, optogenetic and DREAD approaches are encouraged. Successful candidates are expected to maintain an independent, extramurally funded research program, and contribute to the department’s teaching mission. The department and campus have state-of-the-art laboratories, core facilities, and unique populations of inbred mouse strains for elucidating the genetic basis for the CNS-mediated diseases and behavior (https://www.uthsc.edu/citg/mouse-strain-and-pilot-projects.php). We offer competitive salary and start-up packages, and membership in our vibrant interdepartmental Neuroscience Institute (http://www.uthsc.edu/neuroscience/).
Candidates must have a PhD or MD, and preference will be given to those with extramural funding. Joint appointments in clinical departments are feasible, commensurate with shared research and academic interests. For prompt consideration applications should be submitted by July 1, 2019. Submit curriculum vitae, summary of research interests, and contact information for three references, in a single Word or PDF file online at http://uthsc.edu/hr/employment/.
The University of Tennessee is an EEO/AA/Title VI/Title IX, Section 504/ADA/ADEA institution in the provision of its education and employment programs and services.
