Two Tenure-track Assistant Professorships in Computational Cancer Immunology and Cancer Biology

We are interested in candidates who wish to uncover:  1) key mechanisms regulating cancer-associated adaptive and innate immune cells in the tumor microenvironment and identify new immune-oncology therapies, including T cell and B cell repertoire analysis, single cell and deconvolution analysis of myeloid complexity and functional status, and computational modeling of tumor/stromal interactions; and 2) understand the consequences of tumor heterogeneity for tumor evolution, treatment, and outcome, where aspects of tumor biology might be interrogated by computational analysis and integration of data generated from a variety of techniques, include imaging, DNA sequence characterization, and measurements of mRNA or protein.

We seek faculty members with a strong commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, integrated team science and open science. Candidates should have advanced training in machine learning or statistical learning techniques, with a track record of innovation in a biomedical and/or clinical application, as evidenced by a strong publication record and development of novel methodological approaches.

Successful candidates will be a member of the Knight Cancer Institute Computational Biology program and hold appropriate appointments in the department of Cell, Developmental & Cancer Biology (CDCB) and either the Division of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (BCB) in the Department of Medical Informatics and Clinical Epidemiology or the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) based on candidate’s interests and research.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in computer science, applied mathematics/statistics, computational biology, or relevant quantitative scientific discipline. Applications should include a CV, research plan, and cover letter, which may be up to 4 pages. We encourage including the following in the cover letter: 1) links to relevant methodology and associated open source code (e.g. through GitHub or other code repository) that you view as most impactful and describe the relevance to advancing one of the research areas listed in item 3 below; 2) Describe how your personal philosophy or career goals relate to the values of interdisciplinary collaboration and team-science, with specific examples of how you have embodied these values in your career to date; and 3) Indicate your research interests with regards to translational cancer biology specifically pertaining to tumor-host interactions, cancer microenvironment, or cancer immunobiology.

We offer highly competitive recruitment packages, strong institutional commitments to faculty support, comprehensive benefits, relocation services, and a rewarding work and life environment. We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense. OHSU is an equal opportunity / affirmative action employer Minorities/ Women/ Individuals with disabilities/ Protected Veterans are encouraged to apply.
