Job Details
This position is for an experienced synthetic organic / medicinal chemist responsible for the synthesis, purification, and characterization of intermediates and novel molecular imaging ligands relevant to neurodegeneration, oncology, and other diseases. Medicinal chemistry optimization of potency, selectivity and tracer properties is required. The ability to lead internal projects and to identify and lead external collaborations is essential.

Responsibilities:
- Initiate and lead new internal projects and external collaborations
- Drive selected medicinal chemistry activities to support research and chemical development through strong technical leadership and ability to solve key issues
- Conduct synthesis and purification of intermediates and new ligands to targets
- Design and optimization of synthetic routes
- Conduct medicinal chemistry research to elaborate structure activity relationships
- Provide expert analysis and guidance to support decision making at all stages of the drug discovery process
- Provide technical reports and maintain proper research documentation
- Collaborate with internal functions
- Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work both independently and in a team focused environment

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in synthetic organic or medicinal chemistry

Additional Skills/Preferences
- 10 or more years of experience preferred in synthetic organic or medicinal chemistry
- Demonstrated ability to independently conceive, plan and execute complex synthesis
- Knowledge of modern purification and characterization techniques including a solid understanding of NMR, mass spectrometry and HPLC analysis
- Ability to lead and influence cross-functional/cross-discipline teams
- Ability to be flexible in a dynamic environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in discovery of PET molecular imaging agents
- Experience in bioconjugation and analysis of large molecules
- Knowledge of and ability to maintain NMR and LCMS instruments
