The University of Cologne, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck surgery (Director: Prof. Jens Peter Klussmann) posts the position of

Professorship (W2) for Molecular Head and Neck Cancer Research

as per the requirements outlined in § 36 of the Universities act of North Rhine-Westphalia (HG NRW). The position is to be filled by as soon as possible.

Candidates should have an excellent scholarly record in oncological research in particular in molecular tumor biology. The compassed research areas of the professorship are functional genomics and tumor immunology of head and neck cancer. The candidate should have the ability to integrate into the research groups of the clinic, of the existing research groups of the comprehensive cancer center “CIO Cologne/Bonn”, of the Center for Molecular Medicine of Cologne (CMMC) and of the priority research area “tumor and defense”.

The successful candidate should have a MD or PhD and represent the area of molecular biology of head and neck cancer in research and teaching. She or he is expected to take a part in joint research activities of the Medical Faculty (interdisciplinary and translational research) and to have a proven track record in acquiring third-party research funds. Further requirements for application include a postdoctoral lecture qualification (Habilitation or corresponding scientific qualifications), academic teaching experience.

The Faculty of Medicine seeks to appoint a candidate with an excellent track record in research and teaching. Social skills, a team-minded style of work, the capacity to work in multidisciplinary teams and to apply for third-party research funds are prerequisites.
