Postdoc Position in Computational Immunology

A bioinformatic postdoc position is available immediately in the Houston Methodist Hospital Research Institute, which is academically affiliated with the Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University. The candidate will perform bioinformatics research in the area of immunotherapy and will jointly work with the immunotherapy lab under the lead of Dr. Qing Yi (https://www.houstonmethodist.org/faculty/qing-yi/) and the bioinformatics lab under the lead of Dr. Kaifu Chen (https://openwetware.org/wiki/Chenlab). Dr. Yi is a leading expert in tumor immunology and immunotherapy for multiple myeloma with over 25 years of NCI funding and publications in leading journals, including Lu et al, Journal of Clinical Investigations 2012; Lu et al, Cancer Cell 2018; Ma et al, Cell Metabolism 2019. Dr. Chen is a computational biologist with research topics covering epigenetics, genomics, cell differentiation, development, and cancer and with high impact publications including: Gu et al, Science 2019; Yu et al, Nature 2018; Park, Nature Genetics, 2018; and Liu et al, Science 2017.


Strong candidates must have a PhD in the area of bioinformatics and computational biology. Experience related to immunology, cancer research, chromatin epigenetics, and post-transcriptional regulation of RNA expression is strongly preferred. Research may entail combining cutting-edge bioinformatics technologies to make biomedical discovery on the basis of next generation sequencing data, or developing new bioinformatics algorithms and statistical methods for these discoveries. Successful candidates will have many opportunities to collaborate with top-tier biologists and physician scientists.
