Chief Scientific Officer
The Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) to lead our translational research programs, and we invite nominations and applications for this position. The BNI CSO will be responsible for the overall performance of over 25 neuroscientists and their translational research programs, which include the Ivy Brain Tumor Center, Barrow Aneurysm & AVM Research Center, the Barrow Neuromodulation Center, the Fulton ALS Center, and the Norton Thoracic Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Center. The CSO will provide vision and innovative leadership to faculty members and facilitate collaborations between basic science investigators and clinicians.
Barrow is an internationally renowned neurosciences center with a more than 50-year history of caring for patients from around the world with some of the most complex brain and spine disorders and injuries. Barrow is home to the largest neurosurgery program in the United States and neurosurgeons at BNI perform more neurosurgical procedures annually than anywhere in the country. U.S. News & World Report routinely ranks BNI/St. Joseph’s as one of the best hospitals in the nation for neurological and neurosurgical care. Our mission is to advance the knowledge and practice of medicine in neuroscience through basic and clinical research, education of medical professionals, and innovation in clinical techniques and technology.
The candidate should have a MD, PhD, or both degrees with minimum ten years of experience as a principal investigator conducting peer-reviewed, extramurally-funded, biomedical laboratory research. Strong administrative experience and leadership as a laboratory chief are preferred. A detailed description of the duties and selection criteria can be furnished upon request.
