The Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research (MPIPZ) invites applications for a
Group Leader Position in Plant Computational Biology
The successful applicant is expected to establish an internationally recognized research programme utilizing computational approaches to study plant biology. Research areas of particular interest include the computational modelling of regulatory networks incorporating the analysis of large-scale data sets and single cell transcriptomics or morphological modelling of developmental processes. A track record of applying such approaches to plant biology is preferred but not essential. The successful applicant is expected to develop collaborations with groups within and outside the MPIPZ.
The MPIPZ is a centre of excellence in plant science in Europe. It has established infrastructure in areas relevant to this position, such as a central computer cluster for bioinformatic analysis, a genome centre for acquisition of NGS data and extensive imaging facilities. MPIPZ has close collaborations with The University of Cologne, The Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf and the Research Centre Jülich as part of CEPLAS (Cluster of Excellence in Plant Sciences).
The successful applicant will have post-doctoral experience in an appropriate area of computational biology. The position is initially for 5 years with a possibility of renewal for a further 2 years and will be at an appropriate level on the TVÖD scale depending on experience.
The Max Planck Society is committed to employing more disabled individuals and especially encourages them to apply.
The Max Planck Society seeks to increase the number of women in those areas where they are underrepresented and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply.
Applicants are requested to send a full CV including a complete list of publications and a description of their research experience as well as at least 2 names of referees, compiled in a single PDF file, by May 17, 2019 to
Professor George Coupland (application-coupland@mpipz.mpg.de).
