Two Postdoctoral Fellow and One Sr. Research Scientist - Electrophysiology
Two NIH-funded Postdoctoral positions and one Senior Research Scientist position (patch-clamp electrophysiology) are available in the laboratory of Dr. Juan Du at Van Andel Research Institute.
The Du laboratory is interested in understanding how human body senses external stimuli, convey the signals to the brain and generates responses via neuronal ion channels. To address these fundamental questions, our lab uses a diverse set of approaches to study the structure and function of these important ion channels by combining single-particle cryo-EM, patch-clamp electrophysiology, X-ray crystallography, and other function approaches.
The cryo-EM facility at VARI hosts the state-of-the-art electron microscopes (Titan Krios, Talos Arctica) equipped with K2 and Falcon3 detectors. The K2 detector will be upgraded to K3 this year.

Experience with electrophysiology and/or protein biochemistry is preferred. Interested please send CV and a cover letter to Juan.Du@vai.org.
If you have any difficulty uploading your application or any questions, please email Eric Miller at eric.miller@vai.org.
VARI provides postdoctoral training opportunities to scientists beginning their research careers (https://vari.vai.org/postdoctoral/). The fellowships are to help promising scientists advance their knowledge and research experience and at the same time support the research endeavors of VARI under the mentorship of a VARI Faculty member. All VARI Postdoctoral Fellows are encouraged to apply for external funding as soon as it is practical and reasonable after hire. Receiving a fellowship award provides recognition for both the fellow and VARI!
VAI is actively striving to diversify its workforce and strongly encourages qualified individuals from underrepresented groups to apply. Van Andel Institute is an EEO and Affirmative Action Employer
