Postdoctoral Associate
Physiology and Biophysics - The Research Foundation for The State University of New York at Stony Brook
A postdoctoral position is available to conduct research in the laboratory of Dr. Mark Bowen at Stony Brook University in the Department of Physiology & Biophysics. We are working to reconstitute the postsynaptic density (PSD) from excitatory neurons to understand the role of scaffold proteins in the assembly of membrane-associated signaling complexes. Because signaling relies on Intrinsically Disordered Proteins (IPDs), we use single molecule microscopy as part of a hybrid approaches to understanding dynamic protein structures. For more information about projects in the lab visit: https://www.bowenlab.org/
We are seeking a highly motivated individual a recent PhD in Biophysics (or related discipline) with experience in imaging and interests in protein structure and protein interactions. Preference will be given to those with demonstrable experience in Single-Molecule / Super-Resolved Microscopy, Single Particle Tracking and familiarity with Metamorph & MATLAB.
Interested applicants should send a detailed CV directly to Prof. Mark Bowen (mark.bowen@stonybrook.edu) and arrange to have three letters of recommendation upon request. Please include a cover letter that discusses your future career goals and the reasons for your interest in this position.
Equal Opportunity Employer, females, minorities, disabled, veterans.
