 Physician-Scientists

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center invites applications for full-time faculty positions at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor to join an enthusiastic, collaborative and well-funded faculty.  Successful candidates will be MD or MD-PhD pathologist-scientists with outstanding research accomplishment and a record of success in competing for independent research funding, in addition to clinical activities in diagnostic pathology (AP or CP).  The balance between research and clinical service effort is negotiable and successful candidates must have board certification or board eligibility in AP or CP and be eligible for medical licensure in the state of California.  The primary criteria for selection will be excellence and creativity in research and scholarship.  Pathologist-scientists working in virtually any area of human health and disease are invited to apply and will conduct both independent investigation that complements ongoing research at the institution and foster collaborative research with other Cedars-Sinai investigators.  Current areas of priority include cancer, heart disease, infection-inflammation-immunology and neuroscience.  Twelve scientists and physician-scientists working in inflammation, neuroscience, infectious disease, cardiology and cancer have joined the department in the past three years.  These faculty are supported by nearly $7,000,000 per year in research grants.

In addition to developing rigorous research programs, all faculty are expected to participate in graduate student, medical student and resident/fellow teaching, and to participate in academic administration through service on departmental and institutional committees.  Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience and appointments will include high quality modern laboratory space, excellent start-up support, exceptional benefits and relocation/housing support.

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is a highly dynamic state-of-the-art, 866 bed, quaternary care academic medical center with total annual revenues of $3.5 billion.  It is one of the largest non-profit academic medical centers in the U.S., and is committed to excellence in compassionate patient care, research, education and community programs to improve the lives of our patients.  In addition to a large research enterprise with $137,000,000 in extramural grant funding, a robust technology transfer portfolio, as well as highly sought-after training programs, Cedars- Sinai is widely known for its national leadership in transforming healthcare for the benefit of patients.

The faculty positions are targeted to fill in Fall 2019 through Spring 2020.  Interested applicants should submit letters of interest, research statements, curricula vitae, and names and contact information of 3-5 references via e-mail to:  Search Committee, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, at Groupacademicpathology@cshs.org.

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center seeks to find, develop and retain the best clinical and research Faculty.
