Position Summary:

Lead a NSF funded project examining the use of zooplankton to remove microbial pollutants from natural systems. The research project will include laboratory, field, and modeling research with work being completed at the Northampton Wastewater Treatment Plant as well as Smith’s MacLeish Field Station.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Design, test and operate mesocosms. Model development and optimization. Mentor undergraduate researchers. Prepare and disseminate results through publications, presentations, and conference attendance. Assist with grant management. Assist with potential preparation of additional grant proposal.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience: PhD in Environmental Engineering or a related field

 

Skills: Excellent written and oral communication. Ability to work independently. Mentoring experience. Desire to be a member of an accredited engineering program in a liberal arts institution. Experience with culture and molecular based microbiological techniques (preferable).

Additional Information:

This is a two-year, grant-funded, limited-term position.
