Set in an architecturally stunning century-old campus in Saskatoon, the University of Saskatchewan (USask) is proudly situated on Treaty Six territory and the traditional homeland of the Métis. USask is the core of a dynamic research hub addressing critical challenges and advancing the aspirations of people regionally, provincially, nationally and internationally. With stellar research teams and an annual research income of close to $200 million, we have earned our place within the U15 group of Canada’s top research-intensive universities and our sights are set on becoming the University the World Needs.

With a student population of more than 24,000 -- from 130 countries, including more than 3,100 self-declared Indigenous students - USask offers one of Canada’s widest arrays of academic and professional programs housed in 17 colleges and schools.

The College of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (CGPS) is essential to the success of our more than 4,000 graduate student and post-doctoral fellows. Established in 1946, CGPS provides guidance and administrative oversight of graduate programming, and supports faculty and staff in more than 85 departments across campus. By creating connections across disciplines, and working with faculty, staff, students and fellows in a wide variety of subject areas, CGPS is an integral component of our overall success in research and graduate education.

Nearly 40 percent of our graduate students and post-doctoral fellows are international, coming from over 130 countries, and 7 percent are self-declared Indigenous. The college works closely with other colleges and departments across campus to attract the best and brightest graduate students and post-doctoral fellows from all corners of the globe, growing not only our student body but also our collaborative environment, where different perspectives come together to find new solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.

The successful candidate will report to the provost and vice-president academic and will join a strong and diverse leadership team. She or he must have proven proficiency building collaboration with colleagues at all levels and inspiring a commitment to shared goals, along with an accomplished research and teaching record, and experience with managing a significant budget.

The graduate student and post-doctoral fellow population is growing and increasing in its diversity such that the successful candidate will be adept at fostering an environment that actively encourages different perspectives to work together in the pursuit of discovery and understanding. Our commitment to diversity includes a strategic focus on Indigenous engagement, with special attention on increasing the number of Indigenous students choosing to enter post-graduate studies.

We believe in research and education, and the potential of our graduate students and post-doctoral fellows to make a tangible difference at home and around the world. The successful candidate is motivated by this possibility and excels at inspiring others to pursue a better tomorrow.
