Postdoctoral Positions in Virus-Host Interactions

Two postdoctoral positions are available in the Herschhorn laboratory at the Division of Infectious Diseases and International Medicine, Department of Medicine, University of Minnesota.

We are a new and energetic research group that works on exciting directions to understand and target HIV-1 host interactions at the molecular and cellular levels. We use interdisciplinary approaches at the interface of synthetic and molecular virology, immunology and cell biology to gain new insights into complex biological processes, with the aim of translating these insights into novel therapies and vaccines to treat and prevent viral infections.

Research directions include the study of HIV-1 evolution and adaptation, biology of HIV-1 entry, HIV-1 interactions with neutralizing antibodies, design of novel immunogens, vaccine development, the fate of HIV-1 infection, and molecular mechanisms underlying the interactions of HIV-1 with cellular factors. Some of the work is done in BSL2+ facility.

The positions are available immediately for highly motivated candidates. Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. (or an equivalent degree) in microbiology, virology, cell biology, immunology or a related field; and knowledge in molecular and cellular biology techniques.

Interested candidates should email the following documents as a single PDF file to Alon Herschhorn, Ph.D. (aherschh@umn.edu):

  1. Cover letter
  2. Curriculum vitae including a list of publications
