The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Virginia Commonwealth University has a postdoctoral associate position immediately available.  Applicants must have a PhD, MD/PhD or equivalent degree and proven skills and experience in the research areas of molecular biology, biochemistry, and immunology. The ideal candidate should have a publication record in peer-reviewed journals. The research focus of our laboratory is on the molecular mechanisms mediating transmembrane signaling, exosome biogenesis and secretion, vesicle trafficking and inflammasome activation in arterial smooth muscle, endothelial cells and renal podocytes. Many novel and state-of-the-art techniques are available such as real time PCR, vector construction and gene cloning, confocal microscopy, FRET assay, fluorescent microscopic imaging of living cells, NanoSight-nanoparticle tracking analysis,‎ laser flow cytometry, LC/MS, ESR spectrometry and in vivo molecular imaging. The department has a group of outstanding scientists in cardiovascular research and the successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with them and get assistance in developing an independent career in the research field.
