Postdoctoral Research Associate

The laboratory of Dr. Vinai Thomas in the Department of Pathology & Microbiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) is seeking a highly-motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in the areas of bacterial metabolism and physiology. Current research in the Thomas lab focuses on how Staphylococcus aureus metabolism regulates persistence and tolerance to various stresses encountered in its natural habitat.

The candidates applying to this position should be independent, hypothesis-driven researchers with a strong publication track-record. They must also have excellent communication and scientific writing skills. The Department of Pathology and Microbiology has over 60 faculty members, ~50 graduate students and more than 25 fellows and residents working in modern, well-equipped labs with state of the art facilities. Successful candidates will be part of the Center for Staphylococcal Research that includes a highly collaborative and internationally recognized group of scientists with diverse interests in staphylococcal biology.
