The University of Central Florida’s School of Modeling, Simulation, and Training (SMST) invites applications for the positions of Research Assistant Professor and Postdoctoral Scholar in the areas of computational social simulation, social media analytics, machine learning, and social network analysis. The selected candidates will contribute to a multi-year, multi-institution team project to advance understanding and practice of online social simulation.
Research Assistant Professor
Position Description: The duties include: (1) conducting and publishing scholarly research in the areas of this position, (2) developing and executing research plans for existing projects and for new projects, (3) developing grant proposals under the direction of a principal investigator, (4) engaging team members in research collaboration and support project administration. Minimum qualifications: Earned Ph.D. from an accredited institution in a relevant discipline, such as computer science, statistics, information systems, computational social sciences, computational simulation, modeling and simulation (M&S), or a closely related discipline. Postdoctoral Scholar
Position Description: The duties include: (1) conducting specific research projects under the direction of a principal investigator, (2) supporting proposal development, manuscript writing, and related grant activities, (3) developing and executing computer programs to run experiments and to support research activities. Minimum qualifications: Earned Ph.D. from an accredited university in a relevant discipline, such as computer science, statistics, information systems, computational social sciences, computational simulation, modeling and simulation (M&S), or a closely related discipline. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Located at the UCF SMST, these full-time, 12-month positions are supported by contracts and grants funding (C&G) and are contingent upon available funding. Legal authorization to be employed full-time in the United States for the duration of position is required. Candidates who expect to earn their Ph.D. prior to appointment start date will be considered.
