Developing vaccines against Ebola, Influenza & Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV):

Understanding immune responses following vaccination and viral infection

A post-doctoral research fellowship position is available immediately at Lab of Retrovirus Research, CBER, FDA at the White Oak Campus, Silver Spring, Maryland.

The ongoing research performed involves study of Influenza, Ebola, Zika, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). Post-doctoral positions are available for studying of humoral immune responses following Ebola, RSV or influenza infections and vaccination in humans, and use this information for development and evaluation of vaccine candidates. The advanced techniques developed in the lab include whole genome gene-fragment phage display libraries (GFPDL), Surface plasmon resonance (SPR), development of new in vitro and in vivo methods, animal models, recombinant protein vaccines produced in bacterial and mammalian systems. 

The positions are post-doctoral fellowship through the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE).

Qualifications:

Eligible candidates should have a recent MD or Ph.D., or equivalent (within 3 years of the degree) for post-doctoral fellowship. Highly motivated individuals with experience with phage display, virology, recombinant protein/antibody production, structural biology (cryo EM) and animal work are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility

This position is only open for US citizens, permanent residents (Green Card holders) or individuals residing in US for last 3 years on a valid US visa.

Location:

The lab is located on the main campus of the new FDA White Oak Campus in Silver Spring provides an excellent collaborative environment, with access to its library, seminars, and many facilities.

Salary:

Candidates will be offered a competitive salary depending on their experience.
