Chair, Biology Department

Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) seeks a dynamic individual to lead its Biology Department beginning in the 2019-20 academic year.  The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding skills in leadership, research and teaching, and will apply those skills to lead departmental strategic planning; support faculty growth; expand research programs; and promote an innovative educational experience for students at the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. levels. 

Requirements include a Ph.D. in a life sciences-related discipline and the current academic rank of full professor (preferred) or associate professor with tenure; candidates with outstanding academic and research experience but who currently work in a non-academic environment will also be considered.  A distinguished record of research (supported by a strong publication record and substantial external funding); excellent communication skills; and outstanding teaching experience are required. 

This appointment is expected to be made at the level of Full Professor with tenure and all candidates are expected to merit appointment as such.
