Job description:
We are looking for a highly motivated Post-doctoral researcher with a strong background in B cell and molecular biology and Host-Microbe interactions. Successful candidate will conduct research on characterization of B-cell receptors and antibodies.
Research Context:
Ghent University is a top 100 university and one of the major universities in Belgium. Our 11 faculties offer a wide range of courses and conduct in-depth research within a wide range of scientific domains. We are also the first European university in the Songdo Global University Campus in South Korea.
The HIV Cure Research Center (HCRC) is divided into three research subgroups: the Translational virological unit, the Translational immunological unit and the Basic HIV research subgroup. There is close collaboration between these units. You will work in the translational immunological unit. The group of about 20 researchers consists of Phd students, lab technicians, postdoc’s and study nurses.
Requirements:
Previous experience with long-term primary human B cell culture
Electroporation of mammalian cells, Flow cytometry, B cell phenotyping, antibody detection assays
Molecular cloning, PCR
Thorough understanding of antibody generation and maturation processes
Proficiency in spoken and written English
Previous experience in CRISPR-Cas9 techniques is an advantage
Qualifications:
PhD and track record in immunology is required. Independence in designing, performing and supervising immunochemical and molecular assays is crucial. Candidates must show passion for science and willingness to participate in a collaborative project. Ability to work as part of the team and excellent communication skills are essential skills to success in this position.
