→ The Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (www.bsse.ethz.ch) at ETH Zurich invites applications for the above- mentioned position.

→ The Department is located in Basel, in the heart of the BioValley area, providing excellent opportunities for collaboration within this strong life science research community at the academic, clinical and industrial levels.

→ We are looking for an outstanding candidate focused on the development and regeneration of biological systems. He or she uses a hypothesis-driven and systems-level approach to address basic questions and mechanisms. While rooted in fundamental biology, the assistant professor is expected to engage with the computational and engineering groups in in the department to advance biological areas with great promise for break-through science in the coming years. Key areas in biology with direct implications for bioengineering and personalised health concern the understanding of developmental processes that drive the self-organized emergence of organ-like structures and that enable tissue regeneration; the understanding of the signalling processes that determine cellular decision-making; as well as the understanding of the molecular basis of deregulated cellular behaviour and disease.

→ The ideal candidate should have demonstrated success in obtaining support for independent research projects and a strong publication record reflecting innovative, interdisciplinary and collaborative  approaches to identify and solve important problems in development and regeneration of biological systems.  At the assistant professor level commitment to teaching and the ability to lead a research group are expected.

→ Assistant professorships have been established to promote the careers of younger scientists. ETH Zurich implements a tenure track system equivalent to other top international universities.

Please apply online: www.facultyaffairs.ethz.ch

→ Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a list of publications,  a statement of future research and teaching interests, and a  description of the three most important achievements. The letter of application should be addressed to the President of ETH Zurich,  Prof. Dr. Joël Mesot. The closing date for applications is 31 March 2019. ETH Zurich is an equal opportunity and family friendly employer and is responsive to the needs of dual career couples. We specifically encourage women to apply.
