to begin as soon as possible in the specific areas of: eAviation: Propulsion & Power Systems, Future Air & Ground Mobility: Disruptive Concepts such as Air Taxis & Hyperloop, Space Transportation Systems: Small & Medium-Size Launchers, Big Geospatial Data Management: Analysis, Interpretation & Interoperability

The positions are W2 fixed-term positions (6 years) with tenure track to tenured W3 positions (Associate Professor). The professorships are funded by the Federal Tenure Track Programme.

Scientific environment

The professorships belong to the TUM Department of Aerospace and Geodesy and will be located at the Ludwig Bölkow Campus Ottobrunn/Taufkirchen near Munich. The department merges TUM's traditional aerospace research activities with satellite navigation, earth observation and basic geodetic disciplines. In cooperation with other successful engineering and natural science departments of TUM, it will be one of the leading institutions within Europe. Responsibilities

The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. A special focus is directed to the representation and further development of the mentioned research areas at TUM and within the scientific community to create future benchmarks. Detailed profiles of the professorships can be found on the website. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs, explicitly in the German-French Double-Degree Program “Aerospace Systems Engineering”, to strengthen the axis Munich-Toulouse.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected, preferably in an interdisciplinary environment. Additionally, the positions require innovation potential and skills in the development of strategic research concepts as well as the acquisition of third-party funds.
