Assistant Professor of Theoretical (Computational) Condensed Matter Physics and Materials Science & Engineering

The Departments of Physics and Materials Science & Engineering at Drexel University invite applications for a faculty position in the area of theoretical (computational) condensed matter physics and materials science. The appointment is anticipated to be at the Assistant Professor level starting on September 1, 2019. Exceptional candidates may be considered for appointment at a more senior level. Drexel University is a research institution ranked in the top 100 among Ph.D. granting universities according to US News and World Report. Drexel is located in a cosmopolitan urban environment. 

We are seeking candidates in the broad area of theoretical/computational condensed matter physics, materials science and interdisciplinary nanoscience. We are looking for individuals to establish a vigorous externally-funded research program which will complement the existing research in the Physics Department and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. The ideal candidate is expected to have demonstrated a strong record of research accomplishments, a potential for establishing a significant externally funded research program, and a strong interest in undergraduate and graduate teaching. 

A Ph.D. in physics or equivalent and postdoctoral experience is required. Candidates should have demonstrated excellence in research and teaching. 

Applications should include a letter of intent, curriculum vitae, list of publications, statements of proposed research (not to exceed 3 pages) and teaching (not to exceed 2 pages) interests, and names of three persons who have agreed to write letters of reference for the candidate.
