Associate or Full Professor - Metabolic Biology - Department of Nutritional Sciences and Toxicology

The Department of Nutritional Sciences and Toxicology at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for a tenured Associate Professor or Full Professor nine-month faculty position, in the area of Metabolic Biology with an expected start date of July 01, 2019. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

We seek an individual who has developed a vigorous, independent, internationally recognized program investigating one or more areas of metabolic biology, broadly defined, including metabolic regulation, physiological chemistry, and nutrient functions and disorders. The appointee will benefit from access to Ph.D. students in multiple interdepartmental programs. The appointee will contribute to education undergraduates studying metabolic and nutritional biology, and/or molecular toxicology. Numerous opportunities exist for interactions and collaborations with colleagues at UC Berkeley and in the Bay Area.

Basic Qualifications (required at the time of application):

  • All applicants must have a PhD (or equivalent international degree) or M.D. (orequivalent international degree) at the time of application.


Preferred qualifications:

  • Proven excellence in research in experimental biology, as demonstrated by a record of significant publications, secured outside funding, and received recognition as a leader in her/his field.
  • Demonstrated record of having developed an independent research program that is of high merit and impact for a successful associate or full professor.
  • Evidence of accomplishments as an experimental biology researcher at a private or public research institution.
  • Evidence of experience in graduate and undergraduate education and an excellentteaching service record
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to undergraduate and graduate teaching
  • Demonstrated ability to be a conscientious community member, with evidence ofwillingness to contribute to service in the Department and on campus.
