A NIH-funded Postdoctoral Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Troy Bankhead in the Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology at Washington State University. The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary laboratory using state-of-the-art technologies to study mechanisms of immune evasion and host-pathogen interactions by the causative agent of Lyme disease. The appointee will be part of a strong interdisciplinary group of investigators engaged in research on pathogens that cause significant disease in humans and animals, including those with potential for transmission at the human-animal interface. Additionally, close partnerships with scientists in the USDA-ARS unit housed within the department offer numerous opportunities for collaboration.

Qualified postdoctoral candidates will hold a PhD in microbiology, biomedical sciences, or related field, have first author publications in peer-reviewed journals, and have a strong background in molecular biology and microbial genetics. Specific expertise in bacterial pathogenesis, mouse models of infection, and immunology is preferred but not required. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and contact information of three references at https://www.wsujobs.com/postings/42883.
