Northwestern University has an opening for one postdoctoral position in the Laboratory of Translational Neurobiology at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in the Feinberg School of Medicine. The research in our laboratory is aimed at understating the mechanisms underlying the interactions between genetic, epigenetic, and environmental influences on neuropathgenesis of Alzheimer’s disease and the mechanisms of behavioral and psychological symptoms in Alzheimer’s disease. Our research approaches include behavioral paradigms of learning and memory, genetic approaches (i.e. transgenic models and viral-vector mediated gene transfer), and biochemical techniques (i.e. RNA-seq, proteomic analyses). Specific Responsibilities:
- To conduct NIH funding experiments including molecular genetic and biochemical analyses and behavioral tests
- To help write grants and reports for funding
- To supervise students and other techs working in the lab
- To help write and contribute to publications resulting from research done in the lab
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Psychology or related discipline.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Be highly motivated.
Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)
- Experience with transgenic mouse models, behavioral assessment, molecular biology/biochemistry techniques.
- Background in translational research, and a strong track record of peer-reviewed publications.
