Post-Doctoral Research Fellow – Internal Medicine – Digestive Diseases and Nutrition Division

That’s why we’re seeking a mature and motivated individual who is well trained in the areas of cellular and molecular immunology and biochemistry to join our team as a full-time post-doctoral research fellow. In this role, you will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and direct experiments related to cellular immunology, biochemistry and genomic research
• Identify and execute an original research project in the field of hepatology
• Provide data collection, prepare manuscripts and research papers for presentation and/or publications
• Maintain a safe laboratory environment and ensure compliance with governmental and university policies, procedures, rules and regulations
• Responsible for animal handling and for working with animal and human tissues
• Supervise research employees and/or nonexempt staff, as needed

Requirements:

• PhD or MD in sciences or equivalent required
• Up to three years of post doc experience required with cell culture, molecular biology techniques and animal handling
• Strong communication, data analysis, computer and organizational skills
• Some prior experience is required with: flow cytometry (FACS), immune cell isolation from lymphoid and non-lymphoid of murine/human tissue, mammalian cell culture and cell transfection assays
• Expertise in molecular biology (PCR, cloning, plasmid purification, RT-PCR) immunoprecipitation/Western blots and extraction of DNA, RNA and protein from patient and murine tissue samples, immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry is a must
• Be enthusiastic, self-motivated, efficient and interact well with others as part of a team
• Expertise in working with relevant experimental models of disease is a must
• Expertise with confocal imaging techniques, electron microscopy, in vivo imaging as well as analysis of RNA seq data will be a big plus
• Must be able to work at a high level of independence
