Postdoctoral Position Available at the University of Hawaii

A postdoctoral position is available to study the role of sex chromosome genes in gamete formation in the Monika Ward laboratory ( at the Institute for Biogenesis Research, John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaii, Honolulu, Hawaii.

M. Ward's group research interests are on male fertility/infertility,  spermatogenesis, assisted reproduction technologies, and the role of sex chromosome genes in reproduction. The current project utilizes advancements in cell reprogramming to understand sex specific differences pertaining to effects of sex chromosomes and X and Y genes on germline development in a mouse model. The project involves in vitro gamete reconstitution, cytogenetic and molecular biology analyses of cells, and assisted reproduction technologies.

The candidate must have a PhD degree in biological sciences (or related field) and prior training and experience with mammalian germ cells and gametes, mammalian cell culture, and molecular biology techniques (molecular cloning, vector construction, lentiviral technology, PCR, qRT-PCR, protein biochemistry). Candidates with a background and working knowledge in the ESC and iPSC culture, genetic manipulations and reprogramming, and assisted reproduction technologies are encouraged to apply.

Qualified candidates should be highly motivated to pursue career in reproductive biology field and should have established track record of success evidenced by first author publications.
