Assistant Professor (Tenure-track), Animal Preventive Nutrition. The Department of Biomedical Sciences in the Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine (CCVM) at Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR is seeking an outstanding, motivated applicant for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 9-month appointment at the tenure-track faculty assistant professor level. Primary duties include actively advancing the research mission of the CCVM at Oregon State University and teaching graduate and professional students. Successful candidates will establish a rigorous externally funded research program regarding any aspect of preventive veterinary nutrition. Focus on particular animal species is not required, but comparative approaches in research are preferred.

 

The individual will be expected to: 1) pursue creative scholarship by obtaining extramural grants, publishing in top-tier peer-reviewed journals and/or books, 2) training graduate students and postdoctoral associates; 3) participate in elective and/or graduate level courses when requested; and 4) provide occasional consults on relevant clinical cases, if applicable.

 

Advanced degree (PhD, DVM, MD, DO or combination of these) in animal or human physiological sciences is required as well as record of research and scholarship activities in the area of nutrition with 3-5 years of experience. Board certification in nutrition is a plus.

 

The primary responsibility of this position is research and discovery relevant to the research mission of the Department of Biomedical Sciences and the CCVM. Research programs and services within the College and across the university campus provide many opportunities for collaborations and development of independent lines of scholarship. Signature areas of research at the CCVM include infectious diseases, oncology, cardiology, cognitive aspects of aging, and the interactions of nutrition, metabolism and immunology.  https://vetmed.oregonstate.edu/research
