Neuroscience Center Faculty Director
The University of Chicago invites applications from neuroscientists to direct a new Center for Quantitative Biology and Human Behavior. The goal for the Center is to build on rapidly evolving experimental and analytical approaches in neuroscience to explore individual and collective behaviors that drive higher-order social structures. A key feature of this interdisciplinary center will be to promote interaction of leaders in neuroscience and quantitative biology with researchers in the social sciences, humanities, Chicago Booth School of Business, the Law School, and affiliates of the University, such as Argonne National Laboratory and Marine Biological Laboratory. The University of Chicago recruits outstanding doctoral students and has state-of-the-art research facilities. The Center will benefit from a strong and rapidly growing neuroscience community at the University of Chicago and its Medical Center, which are together on its campus in Chicago's Hyde Park.
We seek a scientist who will establish independently funded research programs, and who will interact successfully with neuroscience colleagues throughout the University of Chicago, including the Biological Sciences Division (BSD), the Humanities Division (HD), the Institute for Molecular Engineering (IME), the Physical Sciences Division (PSD), and the Social Sciences Division (SSD). The Director's primary faculty appointment will be in one of several departments in the BSD, HD, IME, PSD, or SSD, depending on training and scholarly interests.
Applicants must have a doctoral degree or equivalent and qualify for a tenured faculty appointment. Investigators with demonstrated leadership skills and experience leading team efforts or building programs are especially encouraged to apply.
