PhD Efficient separation of native protein mixtures for food emulsions
We are looking for a PhD candidate to study seed separation processes by applying minimal amount of purification and processing steps to produce native mixtures for model food systems that are sustainably produced and compare those with traditional food systems. The project is focused on molecular interactions and performance of the mixtures as food stabilizers, as a function of processing conditions and composition.
The project is funded in the framework of the national Topsector program Agri & Food, together with NWO and four major food companies. For this position we are looking for candidates holding an MSc. degree in chemistry, material/polymer chemistry or (soft matter) physics, with affinity to biopolymers and food systems. The candidates should be fluent in written and spoken English, enjoy working within the interface between curiosity driven and application inspired research, and be able to communicate well with both academic and industrial partners.
