Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) is seeking applicants for tenure-track or tenured faculty positions in the Department of Physics. We are interested in candidates working in diverse fields including Astrophysics, Biophysics, and Particle physics. Candidates well established in Materials Physics, Condensed Matter physics and Computational physics are also welcome. Applicants are expected to manage his/her own research program in their field and be committed to excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

About us

Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) is a newly established university located in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. The University is accredited by the Ministry of Education and is a pioneer in higher education reform in China. The Department of Physics is one of the earliest department established in SUSTC, which research field focused on Condensed Matter physics, Materials physics and Computational physics. The specific research contents include:  thermoelectric materials, multiferroic materials, environmental protection material, new-style semiconductor, advanced functional thin film, photoelectron, low-power spintronics devices, superconducting materials and topology of state.

Currently we have 30 teaching-research faculty members (4 chair professors, 2 professors, 15 associate professors and 9 assistant professors), including 2 academician of Chinese Academy of science, 2 “Thousand Talents Program” recipients, 11 “Thousand Talents Program for Young Scholars” recipients, 1 "Chang Jiang scholars" distinguished professor, 1 “National Natural Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars” recipient, 1 "Pearl river talents program" recipient, 2 “Peng Cheng Scholars”, 21 “Peacock Plan” recipients.

Up to now, our total research funds reach more than 92.9 million (CNY), including 38 projects from National Natural Science Fundation of China, 7 projects from Ministry of Science and Technology and Department of Education, 6 projects from Guangdong Natural Science Foundation, 1 Peacock Team Project, 30 projects from Shenzhen City. Our academic staff have published more than 200 papers in the past 5 years. The journals includes "Physics Review Letters", "Nature Nanotechnology ", "Journal of the American Chemical Society", "Advanced Energy / Functional Materials", "NPG Asia Materials", "Physical Review B" and other academic journals.

Several research platforms are being established by our department, including Picometers Center, Neutron Research Center, Institute for Quantum Science and Engineering. And 18 laboratories has been established, including Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Thermoelectric Materials, Functional Complex Oxide Thin Films Laboratory, Low dimensional material synthesis and characterization Laboratory, Nanoscale Optoelectronics Laboratory, Quantum Transport Laboratory, Nanofabrication and Characterization Laboratory, Thin film Physics Laboratory, Mesoscopic Physics Laboratory, Surface Physics Laboratory, Angle Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy and Sample Preparation Laboratory, and High Performance Computation Platform.
