Security and Privacy in Internet of Things Environments
For Computer Science Technology TC, Technology Campuses Ghent and Aalst we are looking for a PhD student in the domain of Software Security and Privacy. The research group MSEC is mainly active in the domain of mobile applications and software security technologies. Research focuses on the design, development and analysis of security demanding applications, while closing the gap between academic research and industrial applications. MSEC is part of the research group imec-DistriNet.
The research group has gained expertise in many key technologies in the field of mobile systems and security. Mobile platforms of interest are smart and SIM card technologies, smartphone and tablets devices and IoT components. Within the domain of security, the group focuses on the integration of complex building blocks for security in advanced electronic servivces. Examples are advanced authentication technologies, privacy enhancing technologies, hardware backed platforms for increased security, identity management technologies and mechanisms for secure storage. The group also focuses on system level approaches to inspect the security in complex systems such as IoT environments, industrial control systems and critical infrastructure.
The SPITE-project - Security and Privacy in Internet of Things environments -aims at finding appropriate solutions for realizing advanced access controlin an Internet-of-Things (IoT) setting. The new mechanisms allow forincreased flexibility, adaptability and security by making use of IoT devicesto 'trustworthily' determine the user's context, and based on this contextadapting the required authentication procedure and the prevailing authorizationrules. Moreover, some of the solutions can be applied to protect a subset of the IoTdevices managed by the user.
