Professorship History of Art
The Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Urban Planning of Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU) Cottbus-Senftenberg, invites applications for a
History of Art
commencing at the earliest opportunity.
The professor is expected to represent the field of History of Art in all its aspects. Twentieth-century art / contemporary art should be one of the research foci. Experience in Museology and in Exhibition Management are required and should become part of the curriculum. The professor will teach in the study program Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning as well as the international master programs »World Heritage Studies« und »Heritage Conservation and Site Management« (taught in English) and comprises training of doctoral candidates. The professor is expected to contribute actively to the DFG-funded Research Training Group on »Cultural and Technological Values of Historic Buildings« and to BTU's Graduate Research School.
Furthermore the professor is expected to collaborate closely with the related departments particularly those of the Institute for the History of Art and Architecture, both in the area of teaching in theory and practice and in the area of basic research. It is also desirable that the professor should establish close collaboration with non-university institutions such as research institutions, museums, other cultural institutions and funding bodies.
We expect experience in acquiring third-party funding and in conducting third-party funded research projects. Research projects should be relevant for DFG (German Research Foundation) funding.
An excellent doctoral degree is a prerequisite. Furthermore we expect additional research qualifications in the shape of a Habilitation (post-doctoral degree) or equivalent achievements.

Other duties result from the requirements set by § 42 Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz (Higher Education Act of the State of Brandenburg - BbgHG) in conjunction with § 3 BbgHG.

Experience in the acquisition and realization of third-party funded projects is expected. Fields of research should be relevant for DFG (German Research Foundation) funding. Lectures are primarily to be held in English, fluency in German is expected.
