Assistant Professor- Fisheries Ecologist

Location: Lehotsky 261 Forestry

The Department of Forestry and Environmental Conservation (FEC) at Clemson University is seeking to fill a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level with specialization in fisheries ecology. This position is a 9-month appointment with responsibilities in teaching (50%) and research (50%). The anticipated starting date is August 2017. Clemson is a Land-Grant university situated in the Piedmont of South Carolina. We seek a candidate who uses ecological or evolutionary approaches to address issues in fisheries ecology such as habitat loss, invasive species, and climate change in freshwater or marine systems. We will consider candidates with expertise that complements existing faculty, with preference for applicants who have specific skill sets in ecophysiology, conservation genetics, population dynamics, disease ecology, ecotoxicology, or trophic ecology. The position will require teaching, advising, and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. The successful applicant will teach courses in both the graduate and undergraduate degree programs. Courses could include, but are not limited to, Fisheries Management/Conservation, Fish Ecology, and a graduate course in the candidate's area of expertise. The successful applicant will be expected to develop a nationally recognized and externally funded research program focusing on contemporary natural resource-related issues.


QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications include a PhD in fisheries, ecology, environmental sciences, zoology, biology, natural resources, or related areas. Preference will be given to candidates with postdoctoral research experience, evidence of research productivity, and a demonstrated ability to secure external research funding to support an active research program that supports the Land Grant mission. Candidates with strong records of undergraduate teaching and mentoring are preferred. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
