Full Researcher / Professor Cancer Immunology
The Division of Cancer Biology at the University of Puerto Rico Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a highly motivated, Full Researcher/Professor who is conducting cutting-edge basic and translational research in Cancer Immunology to join a growing team of diverse and dynamic researchers devoted to conduct Cancer Biology Research as well as the development of novel and effective therapeutics for cancer. The position is part of the on-going recruitment effort in the area of Cancer Immunology in alignment with our strategic vision to develop a robust Immunology/Immunotherapy Program.
The successful candidate will implement a variety of in vitro and in vivo molecular and cellular immunology techniques to investigate tumor immunosuppressive pathways, characterize points for therapeutic intervention, and probe the mechanisms of the antitumor responses to immune-based therapeutics. In addition, senior candidates are expected to be funded and to provide exceptional scientific leadership in cancer immunology. They will join the research faculty within the Cancer Biology Division, with the opportunity for collaboration with investigators in other research areas. We offer a generous recruitment package, state-of-the-art facilities and competitive graduate and post-doctoral training programs. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree.
Qualified candidates should have a strong background in cancer immunology, focusing on the mechanisms of immune mediated pathogenesis in cancer and on the discovery and development of novel immunomodulatory therapies for cancer including the mechanisms of action of current immune-based therapeutics, reversing tumor-induced immune suppression, or adoptive immune therapies. Also she/he should be familiar with a variety of experiment methods that can use to address major questions in the field. The selection criteria include excellence and creativity in cancer research, scholarship, success in developing and advancing collaborations as well as seeking external funds, and demonstrated leadership in the profession. Academic rank will be provided by the University of Puerto Rico Cancer Institute and opportunity for clinical appointment and practice will be available at the University of Puerto Rico Comprehensive Cancer Center Hospital.
