FDA’s Center for Biologics Evaluation & Research, Office of Vaccines Research and Review, Division of Bacterial, Parasitic, and Allergenic Products, seeks a Principal Investigator (PI) within the Laboratory of Mucosal Pathogens and Cellular Immunology (LMPCI).  The PI selected will develop an independent research program in the area of molecular biology, microbial pathogenesis, genetics, and/or immunology of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, malaria, or in a model system with clear relevance to those pathogens.  The LMPCI is actively engaged in research on a variety of bacterial and parasitic pathogens and related model systems.  In addition to directing cutting edge original laboratory research, the candidate will perform regulatory review of licensed and experimental vaccines and novel treatment modalities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To be eligible, individuals must be a U.S. citizen, or a non-U.S. citizen eligible for a valid U.S. employment visa; must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree (e.g., M.D., DVM, or Sc.D.); and no less than 2 years of post-doctoral research experience in microbiology, immunology, parasitology, or a related field.  The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in state-of-the-art research related to host-pathogen interactions; substantial postdoctoral experience leading to an outstanding record of research productivity; exceptional critical thinking ability; outstanding written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; and clear evidence of leadership potential.
