The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), one of the largest Institutes of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is seeking exceptional and motivated scientists to fill roles as pharmacologists/toxicologists in the Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (DMID). DMID supports extramural research to control and prevent diseases caused by virtually all human infectious agents except HIV. DMID provides funding opportunities and a comprehensive set of resources for researchers that support basic research and product development (both nonclinical and clinical).
As a pharmacologist/toxicologist, you will provide expert guidance and scientific advice to project teams and research investigators concerning the pharmacological and/or toxicological issues affecting DMID's ongoing drug and vaccine development programs and provide expertise in the development and conduct of research protocols that explore the safety and efficacy of investigational agents for infectious diseases. You will review study designs, protocols, and study reports for findings and compliance with the Food and Drug Administration’s good laboratory practices (GLP) regulations and standards in support of product development.
Salary is commensurate with experience and accomplishments. The salary range for pharmacologists/toxicologists is $108,887 - $141,555. A full civil service package of benefits (including retirement; health, life, and long-term care insurance; Thrift Savings Plan) is available. Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
