Responsibilities
The Postdoctoral Scientist is responsible for carrying out basic and applied research as an individual contributor in the development of novel continuous flow technologies for the acceleration of process development, automation, and optimization.
  • Investigate and develop novel microfluidic technologies for high-throughput reaction screening in flow.
  • Develop computational tools for intelligent experimental design and modeling in chemical systems.
  • Apply automation and online analytical technology to real-time process development and optimization.
  • Characterize scalability of complex chemical systems and identify suitable technologies for translating optimal lab results to production.
  • Effectively collaborate with scientists and engineers in Small Molecule Design and Development on the development and scale-up of flow chemical systems.
  • Contribute to the general scientific community through external publications.
  • Keep abreast of relevant scientific literature/new technologies/capabilities.
  • Provide internal/external influence.
  • Ensure work and team activities are aligned with all relevant Development Quality and safety requirements.
Basic Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in engineering, chemistry, or related field
Additional Skills/Preferences
  • General knowledge of chemical engineering principles; kinetics, reaction modeling, mass transfer, and heat transfer.
  • General knowledge of organic chemistry.
  • Familiarity with computer programming.
  • Familiarity with process analytical technology.
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstration of scientific and people leadership skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work productively in an interdisciplinary team environment.
Additional Information
  • This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of two years with potential to extend annually for up to 4 years.
